My Biking Experience in My Hometown; Ahoskie, NC

I grew up in a small town in Hertford County called, Ahoskie. My experience with biking in Ahoskie is when I was young around 6-11. During this time I would bike from my house to Main Street and rarely in town with my friends. We all wore helmets during our first year of biking, but afterward, we didn’t wear them. Biking in our neighborhood is pretty smooth. Rarely any cars in our way and the speed limit is slow so that gives us some breathing room. As for biking from our neighborhood to Main Street. It gets busy sometimes but we would bike on the sidewalk and we would feel comfortable and safe.

There have been a few incidents where one of us would fall and get hurt. But it happened by our stupidity and at the time we thought it was funny. Like one time Ashton knocked TyQuan over when we were riding down on Main Street and he fell over and we all laughed. But as the years go by and we finally biked into town and that was a different experience for everyone. The roads were ruined. Potholes everywhere and the sidewalks were messy. As we were biking I wasn’t paying attention and the front of my bike went into the hole and I fell forward and landed on the right side of my face. We ended up going back to our neighborhood and we made an agreement to never bike in town again.
