If Bikers Treated Drivers Like Drivers Treat Bikers…..

Hillsborough Street has bike lanes, which is a good thing.  But drivers (and parkers) sometime don’t respect bike lanes.  This is the situation I ran into yesterday, where someone carelessly parked their car in a way that blocked half the bike lane.  Some bicycle activists have engaged in what you might call guerrilla theater, trying to show that things would look like if roles were reversed.  Here is a twitter post that shows a bike left in the middle of the road.   Here is a twitter post where bicycle activists block a San Francisco Street as payback for a blocked bike lane. I don’t advocate doing these kinds of things (they probably really alienate drivers against bikes), but it is an interesting exercise to make clear the asymmetry between how bikes and cars are treated.
